Isn't he the most rare of the Shawnee jars? Particularly in gold a nd decals? I can't remember if the S&P's were made to go with or not.

I've never seen Shakers for him. Don't think they made them. The Cottage Jar is probably rarer. Though to find those Sailors in undamaged condition is near impossible.

Yep! They fell in at the sides and only saw a few up on ebay. I am guessing that the rarer stuff is being held back until the values come back up. I haven't paid much attention to ebay with the S&P's and Shawnee for awhile, but I am guessing the crooks are not making as much effort with reproducing the scammy Shawnee repos?? There was one seller that was so baaaaad, using the same pics and saying they found the jar in the shed,..etc..with a private bidder with 13 bids,..but it was the same jar each week..LOL!! Remember that one about 5-6 years ago?
Kris

I remember a story like that Kris. Those Pigs, Elephants and Jo-Jos drive me mad. Folks bid on them get burned and then are scared to bid on the real ones. Shawnee Jars heavier on the lids than the bottoms so your prone to get hairline shoulder cracks and chips. I got all my jars except for maybe a half dozen thru antique shows and malls in the 4 state area. Me and my wife used to be pickers for Mom. Then we started collecting ourselves cuz we grew to like the Jars.

I've got a S and a P my great grandparents brought over from Germany in 1903. I'll post a picture when I'm "certified."

Wow Dog, thats a ton of cookie jars. I saw a couple that sent me back to childhood because I remember them from Grandmas house. Too cool! I could never have a collection like that shelved on the walls. I tend to throw a door slaming tantrum a couple times a week. LOL
