Not sure what happened but earlier this morning I typed in an approx. 50 book marble bibliography with ISBNs, contact info. and commentary in alphabetical order by Author and lost it when I hit SUBMIT. I would like to try this again but it is a bit of a chore. Any idea what went wrong. It was rather lengthy. Is there a length limit? Anyway, if you'd care to link it is on Marble Mental and I'm sure Pinx wouldn't mind. I wouldn't. I believe Lou has a link to it or maybe it was Pete. Hard to remember what was up with which board! Previously posted by David Chamberlain:

This is an update on a Bibliography I put together for the National Marble Museum a few years ago. I do include a cpl. magazines, only because they are
especially significant. If you are interested in an extensive bibliography of magazines touching on marbles check out Stanley Block's book MARBLE MANIA. Now I know that I am missing some books here as some of my marble books are still in California. I suggest that you email Pinx and I'm sure she would be pleased to Edit. Bear with me as this is lengthy. I provide ISBN #s when available. Many of these books are out of print but maybe with the information I provide you will be able to seek them out at some of the online bookstores and probably at a bargain. In some cases like Paul Baumann I only provide his latest Edition. I do know that his first Edition dates to the 70s; I have multiples of it in hardback and softback and they're
in California as well. So, here we go:

Barrett, Marilyn AGGIES, IMMIES SHOOTERS 7 SWIRLS: THE MAGICAL WORLD OF MARBLES LITTLE BROWN & CO. (2000) 4th Printing ISBN: 0-8212-2001-2 Superior photography, a great overview. I list this with extreme prejudice because it was dedicated to me(1994).

Bavin, William MARBLES: THE POCKET BOOK OF MARBLE COLLECTING, HISTORY AND GAMES London Outline Press (1991) Hardback, 32 pages. A delightful little book.

Baumann, Paul COLLECTING ANTIQUE MARBLES (1999) 3rd Edition Krause PUbl. ISBN: 0-87341-724-0 Long awaited and impressive!

Block, Stanley A. Stan has a few additional books done by Schiffer concentrating on specific marble genre: Sulphides, German Swirls, etc. Mine are
in California but you can be sure Schiffer lists them.

Block, Stanley A. "Marbles, Playing for Fun and for Keeps" TIME/LIFE The Encyclopedia of Collectibles, L-M Lalique to Marbles pgs. 151-161 (1979)

BSA, Irving TX MARBLES: CUB SCOUT SPORTS (1991) ISBN: 0-8395-2158-8 #2158

Carskadden, Jeff & Gartlet, Richard CHINAS-HAND-PAINTED MARBLES OF THE LATE 19th CENTURY, The Muskingum Valley Archaeological Survey, c/o The Carskadden Optical Co., 24 So. 6th St., Zanesville, OH 43701 (1990) ISBN; 0-9623961-0

Carskadden & Gartlet COLONIAL PERIOD/EARLY 19th CENTURY CHILDREN'S TOY MARBLES (1998) ISBN: 0-9626931-8-9 Significant and definitive study of ceramic and stone toy marbles.

Castle, Larry and Peterson, Marlow COLLECTIBLE MACHINE-MADE MARBLES, Identification and Price guide (1989) 2nd Printing ISBN; 0-9624185-0-1 Utah Marble Connection. This is the book which started it all for machine-made marbles! I've been saying for years that it was God's gift to marbledom. Unfortunately Larry died this past year.

Castle & Peterson MARBLES THE GUIDE TO MACHINE-MADE MARBLES (1995) 2nd Edition ISBN; 0-9624185-2-8

Castle & Peterson GUIDE TO CAT'S-EYE MARBLES (1998) ISBN: 0-9624185-3-6. Cat's-Eye marbles gain respect and come to the fore!

Well, that's all horrifyingly and dauntingly excessive. Hopefully newbies won't be scared away by the body of information. I can recall seeing my first real collection of serious marbles and concluding I could never come near. Let's see, maybe a 12 step program and one book at a time! David Chamberlain
