Roger:

The ones you show are Alley Agate swirls. Probably made in 1950s at St Marys plant. Some sold in Marble King bags. A lot of kids in 1950s had these as in 1960s I saw in kid's older brothers collections.

And I'll trade for unusual colors!

Those look almost all Alley from here.............with the exception of the one at 3:00. IMHO Not sure...........but maybe that's a Ravenswood?

Maybe Don will come back and help us. Smile

I actually think the one at 3:00 oclock is also an Alley. I know everybody says ravenswood made th ebrowns but I think this is an Alley as I have seen with large groups of Alleys in past. We need Ron Shephard to let us know or somebody who found these types digging at the St marys plant.

Another good question did Ravenswood make any 7/8 or 1 inch marbles? I have decided NO. I have never found a swirl Ravenswood in a original Ravenswood package. I never saw one good (not a error) dug at the Ravenswood site,by myself or anyone else. We know for sure what Edwin Safreed used for measurement. He used end wrenchs 1/2 to 3/4 or nowdays a open end or box end wrench to check the marble measurements. So far the written documents say Ravenswood made marbles from 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch. This is what was found at the river bank for 5-6 years, with the few oddities, very few 1/4-3/8 or 7/8-1 inch, and they were almost always errors. I have not and cannot prove any 7/8 or 1 inch Ravenswood marbles.
The Big Boys (also in MK bags) are all 100% Alley. Most of the older large 7/8 -1 inch swirls are Alley. Cairo Novelty had a few. Still trying to confirm 100% if Champion did and which ones? These swirl makers did not make any 7/8 - 1 inch large marbles for normal production, Ravenswood,Jackson,Playrite,Heaton,Davis. Some large Vitros tend to swirl but not normal production or what they were goaling for.
The Paul Bunyans are a whole different and long subject. Packaged by Ravenswood but did they make them or who,Akro,Master ????

A few rare Alleys in that pic. Those are all from the Pennsboro site.
