EDIT: I moved this post from the one with Craig's boxes, because it makes more sense over here. Smile)

Hey, let's make this even more confusing!! Laughing Actually, I think that because of the number of times we've seen the question, "Is this a Citrus?" (hehe), this is a great topic to help answer/clarify much of the mystery.

Smitty (where is he, BTW? anyone talked to him lately?) says that a Citrus is "a white base with orange, lemon, lime stripes.....THE CITRUS" and then mentions that there are two sub-types of the Citrus. He says that "One type has a pastel green while the other has a translucent or relish type green."

What's been confusing to me, is that I've seen some Citruses that have very little "orange" in them......mostly green and yellow. So these look more like translucent Lemon-Limes. I guess that must be what accounts for a lot of the confusion about what exactly makes a Citrus.

Here's a picture that Smitty posted of his Citruses. It looks like there are both types (with the different green) that he's mentioned showing in this box.

Here's a group shot that Charles (moremarbles4me) has posted. I think that both of the ones on the top are the 2 different Citrus sub-types.

The next ones, I think, depict how confusing this whole subject can be. Laughing

Here are 2 that Alan has listed as Citruses. Would both of these be considered a Citrus?

This next one was listed and sold as a Citrus, by "rothbob" on ebay:

I put Charles' picture of the both types here to make it easier to compare. I think that there is some variance in the shades of green, but that as long as the base is correct, then it's one of the Lemon-Lime Citrus'.

While doing a search here for info on Citrus (after someone posted an inquiry on LOM), ran across this and realized that I could probably answer my own question above. hehe

I believe that all 3 examples above are Lemon-Lime Citrus or one of the sub-sets described below by Charles (moremarbles4me).

Please let me know if you don't think that I got this right.

This particular marble subject has confounded me from its inception! Just as soon as I think that I have a handle on it, then something makes me think not. Laughing

Allright! You opened the door for me to ask this question again, Galen. Laughing

When I posted this pic w/labels before, Chris (tankgrrl29) mentioned that the one that I don't have labled is a Xmas Tree. But we couldn't ever determine if the one that do I have labeled is a Xmas Tree, along with the unlabeled one. In other words..............are there 2 versions of the Citrus Xmas Tree?

Damn, I hope someone knows the answer to this.............it's been driving me crazy for some time! hehe

There is two definete types of the lemon/lime citrus.....one with opaque green ribbons and one with transparent green ribbons. We have seen known examples of the xmas tree, liberty, plum, blueberry and the oddball of the bunch ketchup and mustard. Being lucky enough to go to 4-5 shows a year I've seen several that have oddball colors but would be considered Citrus type marbles. I think the unmarked marble in your photo is a xmas tree........the one marked xmas tree is one of those tweeners that does'nt fit the mold but would still be considered a Citrus. These marbles may have been made between color changes hence a tweener.

Thanks for the input, Charles. Very Happy

It helps clarify for me that there are probably variations in all the Citrus types.
