Dan is correct. If the marbles came off clean enough they were not always melted. Peace,Galen

I am not sure what you mean by this statement. All of Leighton's marbles are handmade, in that they were hand-gathered from a pot, rounded in a cup, and snipped off.

Sorry to rain on your parade Doogs. I was looking at ended auctions 5 min before looking at you marble. A slag like that stands out. Could you get a couple more pics of the second row marble on the left (Vitro). Looks to be a good size. Start a new thread so we don't muddy this good pontil info.

I'm thinking Navarre right along with Browse on that marble on pg. 2 and I sort of get a kick out of who ever said, "Never take a positive identification seriously!" That is so true. This is one area, IDing, where I only pipe up with reservations; so often it's a crap shoot! David
