Charles, thanks for refreshing our memory on how these "Windshield" marbles came into being.
I remember how confusing the whole subject became when the Peltier "Window" marbles came about, around the same time, I think.
Around that time, it seems that a number of Pelt Rainbos (heck, some non-Pelts too) started showing up on ebay as "Windows/Windshield" marbles................just as long as they had an area/"window" of transparency. I think that's where a lot of the confusion started.
Roger, I think that the one that you posted might be a "Window".
It was (and still can be) confusing as heck to me ...........but somewhere around here I know I've got some more info that might help clarify.
I'll be back. hehe _________________ Lizzy

Ok, I found Charles' original post on Lou's about the "Windshield" marbles. Hope you don't mind Charles, but I'm just gonna duplicate it here because you did such a good job describing it.
PELTIER "WINDSHIELD" marbles
Quote: | I got me one of those mysterious Pelt windshield marbles today in the mail. Excellent marble. The base of course is clear, I mean crystal clear. the band wrapping the marble is yellowish orange with a touch of red. I like it so well that I'm working on a deal to get enough to backfill a Pelt jobber box that I got in the mail today. Thanks John.
Some background on the marbles and how they got thier name. My friend ran a newspaper ad years ago in central IL. A former Peltier factory worker contacted him about the ad. Long story short several coffee cans of marbles were purchased from this employee. In this can were Pelt honey onyx, clear rainbos, two color clear rainbos(experimental never sold to the public, I showed a picture of mine a few weeks back) and several other experimental types one of which is this windshield marble. The emplyee is the one that called this a windshield marble because of the window in the center of the marble. (Charles/moremarbles4me) |

Now............on to the so-called Peltier "Window" marble. Haven't really heard much more than what Chris (tankgrrl29) posted here about them awhile back. Anyone else know anything more? Maybe it was one of those names that never really caught on? "Name Haters" might have been successful in squashing this one.
The picture below was posted by jskirk and is so far the only example that I've seen where the majority were in agreement that it was a "Pelt Window".
PELTIER "WINDOW" marbles
Quote: | i think the pelt window are like shooter sunsety-looking marbles where most of the surface is covered in a brushed-like ribbon. you can see inside of them, and there's often a large bubble inside. (chris/tankgrrl29) |

Would you say that this is one?
Slightly over 5/8" with bleeding kinda like a Rainbo.
Clear base with a large bubble in it.

Although I'm still not 100% sure that I know exactly what either a Pelt Windshieled or Window is.......................I don't believe that it is either.
It wouldn't be a "Windshield" because those are basically a transparent matrix with the ribbon on the surface encircling the equator.
As for a "Window" marble.............that one is the one that I am less sure of what the definition is. But if Chris is correct, they are usually shooter sized.
However, I don't know if there has been a "type" or that a hard & fast definition has officially been recognized as a "Window" by collectors.
I did find this picture that Bill had posted that I thought at the time was an example of a "Window". However, he may have used the term descriptively rather than "officially".
