Bert Cohen is the seller. I know he knows his handmade marbles, not sure on all machine mades. He may be relying on whomever sold it to him. I would say there is a Pelt possibility but...? You might email him and ask its provenance or any other questions. |

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Peltier... but I have and issue with the mint condition statement.

It could be a peltier miller swirl, but I'd like to see it in-hand before paying that price.
And if you believe that is in mint condition I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I'll sell you. If you enlarge his picture you can see multiple chips very easily. Art |

You could shrink the picture and still see the damage if you had normal eye site .... Hi Art.

Prior to posting here, I asked Bert about it, and he just said that he got it from a Peltier expert, and that it was rare. I agree about the condition, but what I was trying to find out is, if it is Peltier, what type would it be - it doesn't look anything like any Peltier that I know of. ... Roger

Thought that I'd save the pics from the listing and post them here. Once the auction is over, someone might chance upon this post and add to it.

I've looked at this one again and again..........and I don't see Pelt swirl construction. But then trying to place it somewhere else.............I can't. I know that there is the Vacor Thunderbolt that is blue/black, but this doesn't look Vacor-ish either.........................hmmmmmmmm.
The only blue/black Pelts that I know of are the "Bruisers". Does any one know of any other Pelts that are blue/black?
For reference, here are some Pelt Bruisers that were listed by 1stopmibshop on ebay.

Hello All! Didn't want to start a new topic for this one, so I found the most closely related. Did y'all see this one?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=400171215660&si=DICAy7h6gFktZCyGEDd3GL3mgkY%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
I do NOT think it's an Akro, by any means. It reminds me of a marble I posted here that I couldn't ID. Here's the link:
http://marvelousmibs.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=2348&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
Anyone seen one like this? I've dug a lot of marbles here and haven't seen one like this. My buddy was digging back in the heyday of the Akro plant, and having dug tons and tons of marbles, he claims not to have seen one like it either. He's the one who discovered the French drain system and has some very unique Akros.
I think it's a remelt. The brown in it throws me. These Clarksburg marble sellers tend to give the rest of us in town, the serious collectors, a bad name. Anyhoo . . .
(I still need to take photos of my newest marbles and post them . . . I just don't know when the last time I posted photos was . . . there may be some overlap. This weekend is supposed to me sunny and nice, so maybe I'll get to some then . . .)
See ya! |
