I learned not to count on the one click to bid button in the last few seconds. I guess some snipe programs hit in the last second.

Elastolin was a German toy maker.
They made toy soldiers out of a saw dust & glue material.

I'm not sure if "gutta percha" is the right name for the material from which those or any other colored marbles are made. Everything else that is made of gutta percha is black or dark brown. It's the hardened resin from a Malaysian tree, like a rubber but harder, and I don't think it can be colored. ... Roger

the coloring is always a thin layer on the surface. If you look up Gutta Percha items you can find some that are colored. I believe the balls are The material Gutta Percha. Here are some examples of colored Gutta Percha. There was also a gutta Percha based paint with the most popular color being white

My concern about these marbles being actually gutta percha is because I have not been able to find any other gutta percha product that has been made in the way that the marbles are, with swirling different colors. In the world of buttons, all gutta percha examples are either plain black or plain brown. Here's a pic of some typical gutta percha objects. Without some concrete evidence that the marbles are gutta percha, I can only assume that someone named the material of the marbles incorrectly long ago, and the name has stuck. ... Roger

the inside of the marbles is obviously Gutta Percha IMO. I have been lucky enough to examine many Gutta Percha golf balls(with white color on surface) and the balls we call marbles. The insides are often identical although on some golf balls the insides are a bit more compressed. If you look at the ebay golf ball you will see a similar surface as is found on the marbles.(minus the color)

Geeze! $2472.00 US funds. $100 each on the group of twenty five. I'd have to consider that a fair price to pay for something so unusual except they really aren't all that attractive and all so much the same but they have substance and I'm sticking with that being Gutta Percha. David
