I received a batch of Japanese transitionals. Among them is this really nice example of white on opaque black (11/16"). It is the most difficult one to find (unless there are others that I don't know about). ... Roger

Cool pattern. does it show any hint of dark purple when backlit? Not that I've seen a black or purple in this type before, but the contrast is great. |

Very sweet! As rare or rarer than a Yellow, I have a similar but it is deep deep purple. No where near as transparent as the pic shows.(long exposure)

I have a few crease-pontils (long thin crease) that are yellow, but no Japanese in yellow or red (yet). There is also a crease-pontil in very dark purple that looks opaque. For the Japanese pinch-pontil the difficult to find transparents are clear, and pink. In opaque other than white-based I believe there is also white on opaque blue. ... Roger |

I dug through mine but I think these are more of a crease type. The right one almost looks black but deep purple

Roger about the crease pontil marbles,on closer inspection I don't have them.
The ones I found here, the long straight cut-offs they all have the tiny teardrup shaped creases (sometimes hardly visible) leading away from the cut-off.
So mine are all German and I'm starting to believe that yours are probable Canadian.
He He i've looked in 4 boxes of transi's,i've seen enough marbles for one day LOL.

Sometimes the cutoff of the "canadian" and "german" can be quite similar. The "canadian" cutoffs were quite consistent, but the "german" ones changed through the production: early are just a pinpoint mark, that later extended to a very short straight line, which in the end was quite a longer straight line that looks a lot more like the "canadian" crease. Another good indication is the pattern of striping at the cutoff. The "german" ones usually have striping the seems to emerge from the cutoff, and wind arund in quite a good circle. The "canadian" ones usually have striping at the cutoff that also loops around, but with much sharper angles making it look like it is whipping back and forth. top3 are "canadian" bottom 3 are "german". ...
