Thought these looked a bit different than the crease I usually see. Bottom right has the "crease", one to it's left has what almost looks like a pontil you see on handmades. approx 3/4"

I can't see the cutoff on the bottom right, but I believe all the others are German. The giveaway is that they all have that characteristic circular stripe emerging from the cutoff. (crease-pontils tend to whip back and forth rather than circle, and Japanese ones rarely have any striping emerging or meeting the cutoff). The German cutoff is basically a very short, straight indented line. Sometimes the line is so short that it is referred to as a pin-pontil, and sometimes the line is there, but it is underneath a regular-pontil (like handmades). The ones with the regular pontils are (I believe) the oldest. .. Roger |

I would agree with Roger although with the new facts that they were making machine rounded marbles (with much hand work) In Amsterdam we may need to start saying European _________________ Peace,Galen |

Love 'em and great photo too!
(what I like to collect ) Part of the fascination for me is that less is known about this part of marbles history compared to the Amer. manufacturers, as Galen mentions. _________________ Lizzy
