Which of these are Tri lites and which ones *qualify* as Superiors? I went ahead an included the 3/4" that was posted here recently. The last two are the same marble.

ah, kris! a challenge.

i think you should take it first though - read the definition - it's elementary.

first rule: deep yellow patch surrounded by a very rich red band

right there you can rule out a few Very Happy

I was also in the middle of doing this when I got a phone call from an old friend where I used to work.

Chris,
I too am a stickler on the deep yellow part. There are some more typical variations with the bright yellow and red that I often see ID'd as Superiors, but I don't think they are. There is one earlier in this thread that falls into that category.

Kris,
The marble in your second pic and last pic seems to have some glass that is seen on Buttermilks, but its not a Buttermilk. Check with a blacklight. That glass will probably glow very hot. The "yellowmilks" tend to glow the most.

I backlit all together and the marble third pic was the only one the really glowed hot, the others none at all. THANKS!

Kris,
Did you check them with a UV blacklight? Backlighting with a regular light checks for translucency and moonie glass, UV blacklights check for uranaium that glows and gives the glass a unique vibrant color.

I used a UV blacklight. I did not backlight. My keyboard needs cleaning and some of the keys are sticking and the *L* got dropped. ,... plus I posted very early this morning before going into work , around 4am.
