regardless of the true color, I can assure you that it is not oxblood. Likely Akro, or Master patch. ... Roger |

Thank you about the oxblood. I am glad I didn't actually claim it to be oxblood, because I have not held a marble that has oxblood in it. I won't be able to identify oxblood until that happens. I have a lot more marbles to go through, so maybe a true oxblood with appear.
Akro or Master, eh? This marble looks really old. Any idea of a ballpark circa date? _________________ Don't Tread On Me |

Wow!
Are you going to make a cullet marble from that or is it too valuable the way it is now? I should have described the brownish -red color on my posted marble as being brownish-red. I was just really surprised how my digital camera didn't pick up the true color. It is usually very good at getting the colors pretty close. I couldn't even edit it to get closer to the brownish-red. Oh well. Looking at a lot of Akro's and Master's, I guess without really knowing where this marble came from, it could be a Comet or a Starburst, or a Patch. Very confusing, this marble stuff.
Thank you for posting the great photos of that cullet. _________________ Don't Tread On Me |

I own a fair amount of large cullet pieces from Akro because I was interested in the factory's history and spent time there when people were digging 12+ years ago. I was given much of it for free and I prefer to keep it as it came out of the ground. |
