|
|
Is this a corkscrew? The three colored swirls on the clear base are confusing me. All the corks that I have mostly have 1 color plus the base color, or a stripe laid over another color and the base color.
This marble has a clear base...I think--I can see into the center of the marble through the clear spiral. It also has 3 distinct colors. I don't know if it is splitting hairs with the red color, as it does have multiple veins of different reds in it. It is 5/8 and an Akro? Strange to me.
thanks for looking. I have a lot more marbles I want to post.....I don't want to seem like a marble posting hog. _________________ Don't Tread On Me |

a corkscrew that has a clear base with wispy white and two other colors (or more) is called a Popeye (because of the packaging taht was used). Red and Blue is one of the more difficult color combinations to find. If your marble is mint (as it appears to be) it would be over $100. ... Roger |

Roger, you are helping me with that popeye discription. For some reason, I have always been looking for an "eye" somewhere on the marble! Funny....Okay, so the white does not count as a 3rd color plus the clear? Would I be correct in assuming that a true corkscrew with 3, 4 or 5 different colors would jump in rarity?
Thank you for your help. _________________ Don't Tread On Me |

This was among 7 pounds of marbles I got from Ebay. I think it is a newer handmade because of the obvious pontils. Does anyone recognize the work? Or is this just a generic -type handmade? It is a beauty to hold.
The marble is just under 5/8". I guess a better ruler with more detailed fractions should be on my grocery list. 19/32" is probably the real size.
