What was this used for in the mid to late 1800s in cities (this one NYC)?
Bone dice and 3 1/4" high leather cup with advertising.

BINGO!
Either as you described it - or the patron would run up a tab and, before he left, would toss the bartender "double or nothing." Of course, if the patron won he would have all that money left in his pockets and probably stay and drink more. |

Had abar in small town of Serena Illinois (near Tankgirl). I remember him showing to me one time years later and telling me the drunks always won! Whne he died I wanted it but it was long gone...
