here's what the seller says in the auction dan linked:
"This marble is not the oldest style of Marble King, but is older. Probably from the 1970's. "
that's what i was alluding to. the most current MKs would have matching patches on each end with one ribbon of the 2nd color in the middle. PRP.
the older ones had patch and ribbons in alternating colors, like black/yellow/black/yellow (PRRP), resulting in patches not matching in color.
of the older ones, there are the early ("traditional") ones on the white base, like in my bag, in don's picture, and in the 2nd and 3rd pics lizzy shows.
then there's a later version, but still "older", like david's and the first pic lizzy shows.
same thing happened with the spidermen - the oldest had oxblood on the patches. the middle ones were brighter, like these mid-range hornets.
