I've been playing with photographing marbles . . . and art I've not quite perfected yet. Give me time. But I thought I'd share some dug stuff this morning . . . I have a bunch more of dug stuff, a lot of it arguably oxblood. I'll try to get some photos up of some neat ones. But for now, here are these couple of posts.

Here are a few of those hand gathered Akros that Lizzy posted about earlier:

The top row, one on right is a purple. Colors didn't come out well.

This next one is one I found last week. It's rather interesting. I don't know if the ohotos do it justice or not. There's a neat line of red in it (Ox?--probably not).

Finally, here's my birdy grading them. He really loves marbles too! Very Happy

Here are the three most killer marbles I've dug in the last year. The blue ox has a chip on it, though I didn't get it in the photo. I also dug a couple eggyolks, but gave them away.

And here are four really cool swirl marbles (?) that were dug.

This isn't a marble, but it is something I found digging. It's not anything really, I don't think, but the colors and texture of kill me!

Notice the purple at the bottom . . . nice . . . Cool

More dug Akros that could be mistaken for Vitro.

Yup, I've seen 'em like that. Do we have a dug maarble discussion thread? This would work, I suppose. I think a discussion of dug marbles would be grand! There are some beauties out there--rare ones too. I have a few of them. But it seems that, in a lot of cases, if it isn't a "named" Akro people don't want it. Anyway . . .

Here is a 'dug' hand-gathered Akro. (not an Akro Cornelian/Brick) It looks almost opaque, but there are areas of translucency in it. I took some pics of it next to some transparent red slags.

These pictures were taken under various lighting conditions.

Lizzy, luv that handgathered
that last one would fool a lot of born-from-the-womb-gurus doleing out marble IDs

here's a dug double ingot Akro I got from marbles*galore (an AKRO digger who sold on ebay) about 7 years ago
