I'll explain the "window" reference a little further down. Smile This is going to be a rather lengthy post..........so please bear with me.

Here's a group of marbles that I've been trying to figure out the maker. This first picture was taken with the flash and doesn't show the "windows" in them.

So, here are some pics taken without the flash.

Now.............the first thought was Akro with these, but the base color is different than the usual opaque yellow. It has a 'greenish' tinge to it.
Here are some close-ups of several different ones, including some back-lit.

But............I went looking through my brother's corkscrews, and found one with some of the same colors...........including the greenish-tinged yellow base. It's a "lazy" cork and the one on the left in this picture, next to one of these "unidentified" ones.

The next pictures show the "unidentified" patches along with 2 known Akros in the back row. The one on the left in the back row, is a "typical" yellow/red Akro patch marble to show the difference in "yellows" with the Akro "lazy" cork on the right. The rest are the "unidentified" patches.

So............now I'm pretty sure that these patches are of Akro origin..............but I couldn't help but notice the similarity in these pictures that I saved from one of Alan's listings. He had this listed as a Peltier Rainbo. It does look like one that some call a Pelt "Window" marble (not to be confused with the "Windshield" marbles). Smile

Looking for more opinions and/or ideas. Wink

i don't think alan's marble is a peltier anything marble.

i think the pelt window marbles are like shooter sunsety-looking marbles where most of the surface is covered in a brushed-like ribbon. you can see inside of them, and there's often a large bubble inside.

the one of alan's that you show does look similar to the other akros you show. at least it does from here.

I was trying to see if I had saved many good pictures of the Pelt "Windows"..............but could only find this one. It was posted by Jay (jskirk) and the overall consensus was Pelt "Window" marble, if I'm remembering correctly.

Chris, would you consider this one a Pelt "Window"?

Lizzy,
There are some late-run Vitros that have that window feature. They are AWESOME marbles and have some of the same glass features as the early ones from the Vienna plant. I have a bunch of them and will post some pics. They are indeed hard to photograph.

Lizzy,
Not only do the late run Vitros share some glass characteristics with the Tri-Lite Vienna Vitros, but they also share some construction features as well. Their construction is similar to the Half-Helmet but without the red stripe.

Tx, I had actually considered Vitro first when I saw these. The greenish "flavor" of the yellow, I've seen in some Vitros.............along with the long, straight seam (on the one side) that seems characteristics of many Vitros. It was finding that "lazy Akro cork" with the matching colors that had me swingin' over to Akro. Laughing But I could probably be easily persuaded that these are Vitro.

Lizzy, FWIW my first thought was Vitro, although I must admit that base color is odd.

Here are some late run Vitros. These are from a lot of 100 and I believe they are from the same run although there is variation. Mid-way through Vitro's history they developed a cheap way to produce transparent deep ruby red glass. This particular color combo uses this red. It looks like your yellow and red might use it as well. There are at least 5 basic color combinations I am aware of for the late run Vitros. In many ways they remind me of their Tri-Lites. I guess they went full-circle.
