Lizzy asked me to post this information also on this board.
These were dubbed, "Peacock", by Cathy Runyan Svacina.
Here is a nice variety of them..
Notice that I have one that is smaller than 5/8" and a couple with orange instead of red.

Most of this type of marble has annealing fractures in them, especially in the red.
These have a white base with a patch of Vitro purple, yellow, green, blue and either red or orange.
It is my opinion that these were misidentified in one of the Block books.
So many problems can come with publishing books with information in them.
Sometimes there are people who edit books incorrectly, who are connected with the publisher, rather than knowing about marbles.
I have experienced personal art related articles that were incorrectly edited.
Other times because of not knowing what something is can also lead to misidentification.
P.S. There are some Marble King marbles also called, "Peacock".

I think that these are gorgeous..........and I'd have to say, not seen that often.

I know that many people don't realize that Vitro made these, because they were identified as Marble King, in Block's book, right? Are these the type that are also called, "Lucky 7" by some? Isn't there a Marble King type called a "Lucky 7" too?

Here's a picture from one of Alan's past auctions that he called a Vitro "Peacock". Is this a different type than yours, Patry?

Marble King made a marble that collectors call a Peacock too. There are 2 versions. One made in Paden City, below. The first pic is from Alan's old site and the other is from one of Bob B's. (vintagemarbles/paleopal) auctions.

Vitro, "Peacock's" and "Lucky Sevens" are different types of Vitro marbles in my estimation.
*** Here is an image to compare Vitro, "peacocks", a Vitro, "Lucky Seven" and a Vitro, "six", to the left of it.
The, "Lucky Seven", is in the second row, middle, right, or third from the left in the middle row.
You are showing nice images of the Marble King types of, "peacock", marbles. I have an additional marble that fits that type that has some clear in it.

***my Marble King, "peacock's". There is a, "double ingot", in the middle.
Somewhere in my collection is the red, aqua and white with clear. Couldn't find it so put the one in at the upper left that sort of fits this category, that I was able to find.

I do see the difference in the construction of the Vitro Peacocks and the Vitro Lucky 6 & 7. Based on this, it seems that Alan's version is more of a "Lucky" type than a Peacock. Is that how it looks to you?

Does the Vitro Peacock have 6 colors (counting white as a color)?

The difference in number of colors between the Vitro Lucky 6 and 7, is that the 7 has red & orange, whereas the 6 only has the red?

(I know I'm full of questions..........but I do appreciate you sharing this with us. Smile

)

Those MK Peacocks are beautiful! I really like the double ingot (it seems to capture the best colors of the Peacock in abundance!) The one with the transparent is also a "looker". I haven't seen one like that before!

Here is my Marble King Peacock! Could the second Marble be considered a Peacock also? Kind of has the same colors but different pattern?

Windy, I believe that your second one is one of the "Irish" types. Maybe Duffy or someone else will confirm.

Marble Kings seem to have such a "range of variation" (as BT would say) for each named type. There are "Blended" and "Poor Man's" versions and maybe some that I don't even know about. Laughing

My anwer is. "yes":
Didn't count the white as a color when counting colors in the, "Lucky 7", nor the, "Vitro 6" which I don't consider a, "lucky number", so to speak.
I just call it a, "Vitro six", but it certainly seems to have been made in the same way as the, "Lucky 7", so I have kept them together.
Now, please realize that that, "Vitro 6", is my name for the marble that I own, that it is a Vitro with 6 different colors, not including white and isn't ia name that I know of otherwise, published anywhere.
