If you'd like to see what marble selling on eBay has become check out seller:
2497teresa !! From 2/20/08 until 2/29/08 she sold $1367.00 worth of some of the worst garbage marbles you could imagine. Plus she overcharges for shipping!! That's only 10 days !! I added it up.
I e-mailed her a year or so ago to let her know that she had misidentified a marble( a Tennessee River dredged felt tip special ) and she kind of politely told me to kiss off and who the hell was I to try to tell her anything about merbles.
So.... if you want to make money, buy Jabos and Mexicans by the ton, mix in an occasional old marble or two and make sure you put it prominantly on the top of the pile of trash, add some description language that makes the junk sound good, put them in a container that you buy at a garage sale and wait for the suckers to bid. They will !! Good luck. Art |

Hey Art, I feel ya on that one! There has been a lot of talk about the scheming and deceptive sellers on eBay....Its a shame when sellers knowingly mislead potential buyers with false expectations when they know they are selling "crap" just to make extra dollars. However, I would say the majority of the responsibility ultimately lies with the buyer to be aware of commentment when they purchase online items and what they are getting into...especially with all of the scams that are happening with eBay and Paypal, you would think that people would be more careful before entering into a commited contract.
Just as you did, you would think that buyers would do their homework about the sellers they intend to potentially do business with before making online purchases. Additionally, there are boards like these and other methods of which buyers can "familiarize" themselves with whatever they are purchasing as well.
As far as eBay and paypal go, look at this must see horrifying incident that happened to this poor chap who thought he was protected by paypals seller protection policy!....and could happen to any of us at anytime as sellers of quality marbles on ebay. Click here to see the followup and what Paypal did about this sellers merchandise on the followup video......I can clearly see now why MarbleAlan went balistic and hates Paypal so much! _________________ -Chuck Jr. |

Chuck: I wasn't trying to criticize legitimate sellers, just the ones who prey on the buyers who really think they're getting something worthwhile and are getting trash.
I buy on eBay, mostly from sellers who I know, and I have sold a half dozen marbles over the past 8 years, but I honestly wish there was an alternative venue because of what eBay has become.
And you're right, some of the buyers are just as bad. The vidio confirms for me why I don't have Paypal. |

Art, I just wanted to say that I knew you werent criticizing legitimate sellers. They really had nothing to do with my response to your post......It was all about "uninformed buyers" I was trying to make it clear that buyers should be aware of what they're getting into before they purchase online regardless of the sellers reputation
It's common sense to research items before you purchase....ie: one wouldnt go out and buy a car without first knowing all there is about the car........."information is king"
The Payal and eBay part of the post was just a little extra flavor.... _________________ -Chuck Jr. |

She is one of the sellers who has *come out of the closet* so to speak, selling Jabos as Jabos and I refuse to buy from the likes of these sellers. Once a crook, always a crook IMHO

Before Ebay made every bidder's Id Private,
I Watched Her auctions. It seems EVERY auction was immediately
bid on by the same three bidders. Every Auction. I started to track her first bidders and one was even registered to the same home town as her.
The Alleged result could be... it could show bidding activity on her auctions
and it would get the unknowing bidder to jump in & Bid. (Allegedly!!)
Such an action could (hypothetically Speaking) be construed as shill bidding
& Fraud
Sad... & Ebay does not care. |
