Good Sunday evening all.
I wondered if I could solicit y'alls opinions on these mibs?
I guess Cairo for the first three, trying to think where I saw a thread talking about the core that runs like a root down the inside center of these. Oh I know, the thread on mushrooms..but I don't know if these are same or qualify.
The second pic is bad, its a purple slag and I wonder if this with the tail drizzling around to bottom pole, would be considered a "turkey head"?
The third two are a creamy opaque base with brown swirls/flames? Are they Ravenswood or...?
Thank you so much for your help!
Catherine

Catherine---I don't recall a post about "the core that runs like a root down the inside center" but I may have missed it.
However, I don't believe that it was in reference to the Cairos. One of their traits is that there may be an "S" or "C" shaped ribbon on one side and nothing on the opposite side. David Chamberlain describes it thusly, in his article on "Marble Mental".
Quote: | For one thing, due to Oris Hanlons thoroughly unique, although diabolically difficult marble machine, many of those marbles have a hook-like swirl characteristic (photo 1). Mike Johnson refines this description by stating it as a snake-like stripe on a limited side of the marble. Also desribed as a tiny clear-glass slash form a quarter to a half an inch.

As for the "turkey" on your slag, that wouldn't really be considered one. Yours appears to be the random swirling on a slag that could even be the beginning of a hand-gathered marble. You know where they start off sometimes in a "9" pattern...........although because the photo is blurry (and without seeing more views that would include the "tail", etc.), it is very difficult to tell. I'm also not sure if yours is a Christensen Agate slag either.
"Turkeys" are used in reference to Christensen Agate swirl marbles that have this pattern, as shown here in Galen's picture.
On the last group...........I'd be more inclined to go with Champion swirls on the one on the left. The one on the right looks different. Any way to get more views of that one? _________________ Lizzy

Thanks so much for the opinions!
Lizzy, I do know what you mean about the "9" and tail.
I am working on getting a better shot of the smaller of the two cream and browns. Am working out of town down the valley and getting home late, will try to get a pic tomorrow.
Thanks y'all for the information, I surely appreciate the time taken to respond.
Have a great week...its gonna snow in Montana by the weekend!

Snow? Oh you lucky dog! hehe I'm still sweltering down here, although the nights are cool. I love to sleep with the windows open and a fan blowing on me!

Heck, I've hardly noticed the gas prices down here. It's too hot to venture outdoors much, so I rarely go anywhere besides my sister's pool (a few houses away).
Luckily prices have started going down here and it's about $3.50 a gallon here about 2 hrs. from Atlanta and on the SC border. But I've seen on the news that it's only like $2.65 right along the Georgia coast. _________________ Lizzy
