The blue one is a pic that was posted on a site as a rare Akro Cyclone.
I think mine is an Akro but what category would it fall into?

In my opinion those are not akro cyclones. A little over a year ago I bought an akro cyclone from Lizzie. Maybe she has a pic in her archives. They were from one of the digs. All the ones I have seen are earth colors and can put most cac cyclones to same. I think I bought in jan 08. I havent seen another on ebay since. CT |

I have no idea what the first one is.
As for the one that you posted, I'm not sure if it's an Akro or Vitro. If I had it "in-hand", I'd feel more confident trying to pin it down to one or the other.
Although it does look similar to many of the Popeye Patch-types that came from the digs, here are some Vitros that are similar to them.

Ok, I've got to hunt down the pics of the one that Clyde bought from me.
I believe that it's the transparent based hand-gathered type..........but have never it called a "Cyclone". If it's the one that I'm thinking about, then I will have to say that it is one that would be worthy of the name.
In the meantime, here are some examples of what have been listed as "Akro Cyclones".
I think that this first one might be a torch-made?
What was funny is that the seller posted on LOM because she had bought it from mjrdiamond as a "rare Akro Cyclone" (he's mentioned in our Pros&Cons section and various other "Board of Inquiry" columns elsewhere). Here's the thread and her comments in post #10.

Here's another listing that was on ebay and the seller "thinks" that it's an Akro "Cyclone".
I love how she says that all her marble listings were her husband's marbles that he won in the 1950's..........but yet there are Vacor Hurricanes, etc. mixed in with them.
"Close-ups" of the auction pics.
Here's a link to their other listings.

Even Morphy's Auctions listed these Akro corks as "Assortment of Machine-Made Cyclone Marbles"
.

WOW
Thanks for taking the time to show all of those examples. It does look like the first Vitro the most. _________________ Dog |

I found it! Here's the "Akro Cyclone" that Clyde's talking about and that he now owns.
It's one of the best-looking "Experimentals" that came from the 'digs'........and one of the hardest to find, IMHO. It's also difficult to capture all the internal action in a photo.
Taken outdoors in sunlight.
Here's one in this group shot of hand-gathered Akros from the digs (posted by Gary-BR549).
