So often the lots of machinemade marbles on eBay are obviously contrived, with colorful new ones added in, and perhaps an old one or two that are damaged, etc. The vendors try to tell us that it was an attic or garage sale find, but those who have spent time hunting batches of marbles in the wild know how obviously contrived they are. I just noticed on eBay a couple of lots, that, wow - appear to be authentic batches of old marbles. I doubt there is anything very valuable, but these could be nice for a beginner to sort through, and they appear in decent condition. Here's a link to one - the vendor has another. ... Roger

What I'd call a nice journeyman group(s) of marbles and there's probably one or two amongst the group which could wind up repaying for the lot although as it often turns out that's the one or two you want to keep! Such are marbles. David Chamberlain |

those contrived lots seem to out number the genuine by far lately, the ones you posted look great, at first glance thought there were vacor (owl?) and jabo in there but as you scroll to the closer images you get a different idea and see the surface wear, anyways they wont be coming here as sends US only.
here's a contrived lot I got recently item 360136690476, the ones on the right were described as "handpainted or smaller" I just had to have the blue base sparkler/cat on the left to go with one I already had.
david, you are so right about the keepers, have to curb my buying as the only ones I would sell on are the ones not worth buying. _________________ Ziggyzora |

It is a gut wrench when you sell a marble that you love! David |

Even some of the "contrived" lots have held nice surprises (as long as I didn't pay too much for them....hehe). It's always fun to go through a 'junk lot' and find at least one good one! _________________ Lizzy
