I have a bunch of old swirl marbles that I am having a hard time identifying. I have selected 4 that caught my eye in the gleaning. The upper right one has clear transparent, they all seem wetter looking than the more opaque NLR colors I am more familiar with.

Welcome MK!
I believe that the 4 that you're showing here are all West Virginia swirls. They are sometimes hard to determine the exact maker because many of the companies made similar swirl types.
The one on the top row, on the right is a little different with what appears to be a clear matrix. White based CA swirls are oftentimes difficult to distinguish from WV swirls but I believe yours is constructed more like a Champion swirl.

Thanks for the quick response, I am new to posting on a forum, and I just signed up on photobucket, so I hope I loaded the picture right. I recently have been going through an old marble collection of about 1000 marbles, I have sold a few Akro Agates and Peltiers on ebay(pylors), but I have many swirls that are hard to pin down. I know that every single marble is from before 1950, so at least I don't have to sort through new ones. I had planned on selling most, but I now I am hooked!!! My granfather gave me a few marbles that I used to play a game called My Mibs, probably a local milwaukee game. Anyway I am learning to appreciate some of the history and uniqueness of old marbles, what fun!!!

Py, you 'dun gud' as we say around here! hehe The only other thing that you need to do with photobucket is to use the "IMG code" so that your photos will display directly in your post.
Here's the part of the tutorial that should help.
Also there are others more knowledgeable about WV swirls than I am........and they may chime in with a different opinion on the makers.
Post away with more pics.........most of us love to ID marbles! _________________ Lizzy

Hey Art, I lived as a child in Milwaukee, but live in Lincoln,NE now. Still, I am curiuos what about what kind of things a marble club does, perhaps you would share some experiences? I played at marbles as a kid in Milwaukee, so I associate my interest in marbles with that. I guess I am serious about marbles, if I consider the amount of hours I spend staring at the things, I find the colors create some interesting after images when falling asleep, is this a phenomena that Mibologists and such discuss?
