. . . that MFC didn't make RED slags, and that CA didn't make AMBER slags?

Never heard CAC did not make amber slags. As a matter of fact I believe they made a huge variety of amber shades.

This Slag is slightly under 5/8" and has a nice "9" coming out of the center, trailing off into a fine tail (the double picture).
The opposite side shows where the "9" continues through the marble and comes out ending in a fine line (the single picture).
There are no pontils but there is a cut-off line (single picture, the end of the tail is pointing to it).
Since MFC didn't make red slags, who do we blame this one on?

Akro CAC Peltier would be the order of my guess.

Just remembered where I got the "no amber" idea.
In Alan Basinet's old internet sight he doesn't list "amber" as a CA slag color.
He called it "brown."

I believe that most people doubt that MFC made either red or yellow slags. Here's a pic of a red slag alongside a purple one. The purple one was found along with several others that were all quite obviously MFC. ... Roger

Similarity(even stark similarity) alone is not a clincher. It is rather impressive though.....David
