When I was younger (a lot) and was actually shooting marbles for keeps, I never used pee wees, and in fact culled them out from my carrying bag. If I happened to win any, I would toss them into the cigar box where I kept all the other misc. marbles.

Now, I have sorted out less than a dozen pee wees from the marbles I have, and they seem to be outnumbered all around. As a kid, I didn't use them because they were, well, puny and couldn't do much damage. I suppose there were and are other games that cater to pee wee's, but I didn't know them at the time.

These few pee wees were the last of my fathers collection to actually start looking at. Boy, I was knocked for a loop when I really looked closely at this one. The photo of the marble in my hand shows a fairly dark marble without any outstanding eye appeal. On a whim, after I was taking photos of other marbles by lighting them from below, I poked a small hole in the white and then the black stock board that I shine a 40 watt light up through. It really helps me to see into the marble. It also kind of messes with what my eyes have already seen just by holding the marble, even up to sunlight. I could tell this marble was transparent, with some colors, and that was about it.

What a dramatic effect the under lighting had! This is probably old news to most of the forum, but I was dazzled by all the color, patterns, seams, ridges, holes and just downright beauty that was inside this tiny marble. How could they get so much cool glass mixtures and colors into that pee wee? And how would a person even know unless they did what I did with the lighting?

Is this just a normal pee wee type and I am just being amazed because it is the first time I really looked closely at this one? Or is this a strange marble? It is 7/16", with transparent glass that has what I would describe as the sunburst type construstion. Does anyone know the type and manufacturer of this little beauty? Please post up some replies if you can help, or have other pee wees to compare. I still have a few more to photograph, but I am kind of stuck on this one....I have come up with at least a dozen cool names for the different images I can see in this little guy.

Neat looking marble. From the seams, it looks Master to me. It is amazing what some 'blah' marbles lookl ikewhen they are backlighted. The hole in the board type lighting is a neat way to display marbles.

That is one surprising little ball of glass! I wouldn't have suspected that it would have all those colors/patterns inside either.

I think that this is one of the addicting parts of marble collecting...........the many surprises that you will find..............from the thrill of the hunt..........to backlighting..........to hitting with the blacklight...........and so on. Wink

Thanks for sharing it with us.
