I do not know what to look for in a double ingot. I know what they are, but some I have seen photos of are kind of blendy, and others are very obvious. This one kind of seems obvious, at least to me because of the large, deep crease that circumvents over half the marble perpendicular to the poles. I also haven't a clue as to the type of marble this is--double ingot or not. Any help is appreciated!

It appears to be a DI from the pics you posted. Some DIs have a bold, somewhat cold roll seam. Others were apparently hotter and the seam is visible but more smoothed into the roundness of the marble.
For any manufacturer - DI should have been detected and sent to the scrap pail.
Some DIs:

I'm glad they didn't toss that last one in the scrap pail...but on the other hand, if you had the same marbles un-attached, I guess that would be even better. One in the hand is not worth two in the bucket! _________________ Don't Tread On Me |

I see one glob folded in the first marble. Definately not a double ingot(2 globs) Several pics 2,5,6 show this. If it was a double ingot the indent would countinue around the marble and you would not see the same color banding curving around the indent. _________________ Peace,Galen |

Alan shows a nice selection of double ingots but yours is not a double ingot. In double ingots there is a total shift in the pattern on opposite sides of the crease because what you have basically is two different marbles that have fused then been somewhat rounded. In your marble the pattern very clearly goes from one side of the crease to the other. You've basically got a marble that in some eyes might be less desirable because of the crease and with others maybe slightly desirable because it shows character or sumthin'. I better quit while I'm somewhat ahead! David |
