Here is a rare little group of 3 Alox flame/swirls I purchased from MarbleAlan two years ago. I originally had 4 of them but traded one at the Vegas show 2007 for a green hand gathered slag. Alan B. said these came from a very reliable source.......Actually there was a nicer Alox Flame that Catfish won which was offered at the same time these were selling.....I encourage Derrick to post a pic of that one in this thread (cant find the pic), as both he and I thought his looked totally Alley...
Alox marbles and ID's have been one of the most difficult marbles to accurately identify because of intermixing with other company mibs and lack of authentic packaged mibs (tic tac toe boxes). David Chamberlain's articles have been a fantastic source for all marble collectors. After looking at some of the Alox marbles there, I definately see some striking similarities with these marbles.
Two of them are a hair over 5/8" with the smaller one being 19/32". Pistachio colors with the swirls containing the green. Actually the base is a very dark amber. Looks like the swirls contain milky Vitrolite glass.......awesome jewels!

Sweet marbles. Similar enough in color to almost look like 3 views of the same marble, but obviously different. I wonder if these rolled off the line one after the other. Good group.

WOW!

I have a group of what look to be identical marbles. They all came from one collection and I've wondered about the maker. I am out of town for an extended period of time and don't have them with me..............but as soon as I get back, I'll try and post some pics and see what you think.

Handsome marbles. I'd be proud to have any one of them. There is an Alox book in the offing. Patience! I believe it will bring considerable clarity to the confusion that Alox marble IDing presents; then it could just as easily go the other way considering the inexplicable nature of marbles. While in CA early Oct. Mike Johnson gave me two examples of Alox marbles he was given by the Frier Family and they'd already thought to name them Cloudy Days but he let them know that the name had already been preempted. It will be nice to have a fuller history on the company and a clearer look at the array of marbles they actually made as opposed to bagged. David

Thanks Galen. I think I went for it after Chuck beat me out of the ones in the previous post. I like the hell out of Chuck, but damned if I was gonna let him have all of them that night.

Actually there were a couple (or maybe only one more) groups like the one chuck bought that went off that night. Its a good thing Alan makes his auction end a few minutes apart. Gives a guy (or gal) enough time to get pissed and start bidding on the next one.
