Here are a few more neat Vitro I scrounged up while getting all sorted out.

First is this one. Looks like it would go in the Aqua-Marine family? Sort of? Maybe? Sounds good to me.

Next is one that looks like a Hemet Type. Just fancier. Back ribbon is blue and brown. At the top of the marble is a obvious clear line of glass. The face is more of an orangie red than pure red. Does it still fit the "Helmet" moniker?

This one has all the traits of an Opal type. Except it is in Patch and ribbon style. Anyone seen any others like this one? All other Opals I have seen are different.

The last one is pretty much for show. Another Hybrid Phantom Conqueror. This one with funky purple streaks. More or less on the surface. The one wider stripe looks opaque, the rest are transparent looking.

Thanks for any help sorting these out.

Those sure are some pretty ones Dave!

I think the first three are more "Helmety" types....(maybe the second one being a type of buttermilk????)
the last one is gorgeous! I'm thinking "opal-ish" on that one.
(I could be totally wrong on all though...... Confused

Thanks sandy. The first three are stumpers of sorts. I'm sure they all have a place though.
The last one is a Phantom Conqueror for sure. There is ample clear glass and internal white. What makes it look funny in the pics is the purple "stains the clear out. Inhand there is not that much purple really, the one bold stripe affects the view of most of the marble. The streaks just add to the problem of capturing the clear glass in a pic.
It's funny how many marbles Vitro made that make you go "hey that's a neat one". Could be why my box was pretty full.

This pic shows the last one better. I cropped this pic from a group pic my Mum sent of a find. Sadly I only got one in the couple of handfuls my Dad brought over. The rest are still overseas in a jar (cring)
Of all the American machine mades I see in her pics Phantom Conquerors far out number the next closet Peltier Rainbos. Vitro sold quite a few marbles in the U.K

the first 3.....before we heard the name 'tri-lites' and i was trying to define 'elites', i described them as 'like helmets, only fancier'. they're too nice to be helmets, imo. i think they're just super-nice and colorful elites (tri-lites)

Rogers marble is a perfect example of what I ment when you see a Vitro that makes you think "hey that's neat" Cuse that one is neat.
Chris did they make Tri-Lites with coloured bases? I don't know? Where did that Randy go, go? Or maybe Galen since he is a Helmet nut. Guys?

I have posted this diagram a few times, but it probably could be useful here again. There are 3 basic constructions for Vitro Tri-Lites. Chris, I think some of the helmets only fancier are the Half-Helmet construction.

Also, the base glass on Tri-Lites can be opaque, clear, translucent, or any combination. There is quite a bit of variation, but it is not random. There are some very specific "rules" or patterns. Here are a few trends in Vitro’s use of color on the Type 1 Tri-Lites. (orient marble so that red is in the upper left quadrant).

1. There is almost always a red (or variant of red) stripe.
2. When green occurs with another opaque color, it is usually yellow.
3. When yellow occurs with another color, yellow is usually above the other color.
4. When the stripe is brown it is almost always wide.
5. When orange is used it is usually adjacent to the red stripe.
6. When the top pole is other than white it is almost always red or red and yellow.
7. If a color is present in the lower left quadrant, there will almost always be color on the upper right and or lower right quadrant. If not, then its probably an Akro with U-shaped seams.
