I've recently aquired some transitionals, and I've finally gotten around to photographing them. I thought you might like to see some of the pics. ... Roger

First is a VHTF yellow on transparent green crease-pontil (11/16").

next, a really nice example of red/white crease-pontil (11/16")

This is an early German ground-pontil (15/16")

Next is a German pin-pontil (13/16")

finally, a German regular-pontil (11/16"), with a bit of drizzle.

Very nice Roger,I've a weakness for them,I remember they were together with the hand-mades my favorite marbles as a child.
The first one and the clear one with white I can't find here.
The German pin-pontil is that base transparante red?

The pin-pontils and the regular-pontil red/white often were made with a truly transparent red, and if the red is quite thick, its hard to tell which is the base and which is the striping. I categorize them all as being red on white base because I've never found any that are really obvious transparent red base (with only a small amount of striping, like the other transparent bases often appear). The crease-pontil is found in a truly transparent red base, but I think its the only one. ... Roger

those are great Galen, Could you post pics of what they look like at the cutoff? I'm guessing they're not crease-pontils. ... Roger

With this type of CAC it appears the glass somehow folds over the cutoff, The tails are coming from the far side at about 2:30 get covered by the same fold

Wow, looking close at the pics there is another little tail on the left side of the cutoff on both marbles going in an upwards direction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I will never be able to figure these CACs out.

In comparing the CAC to the crease-pontils (as the pics below), the CAC seem to have a "9" that drops more directly toward the cutoff, whereas the crease-pontils tend to drop halfway, and then wrap around the marble. Also there seems to be more blending together of colors on the CAC, whereas the crease-pontils are usaually more separated. And, of course the striping at the cutoff is very different. Both manufacturers apparently knew how to produce the bright "electric" colors. I haven't seen very many of the CAC examples. Galen, are these observations true for most CAC "9" handgathereds? Have this type of 2-color opaque handgathered been found at the CAC site? ... Roger
