I bought this one today for a buck, figuring it'd be a good candidate for polishing. It has a few hits but nothing too deep. Its bigger than 3/4" but my calipers have been MIA for like 2 weeks. I guess its an opaque-based rainbo. Are these hard to find in larger sizes? I like the green.

Here is a Peltier shooter at 15/16. I got this one at the first marble show I attended. The first room I wandered into was Raymond Anderson's - noted Peltier collector. I didn't know much about marbles but expessed interest in this one. Once he learned that it was my first marble show he said "put it in your pocket". Its one of my favorite marbles and his generostity made quite an impression on me. Now, whenever I meet someone new to collecting, I make it a point to give them a marble they like. Generally speaking, Peltiers are not good candidates for polishing. The color strips off very quickly.

Great story TX. Nothing like passing along a little generosity to make the day go down easier.

hey dave, yeah, i would say pelt shooter rainbos are hard to find in the first place, and more often than not they are pretty plain. yours is a bit more colorful than the norm, albeit not considered 'rare'.
i agree the opaques are not particularly good candidates for polishing
definitely worth the buck though! |
