I think they already have a name, though not a fancy one. they are a type of tiger eye. Randy Gossett could tell us type 1, type 2, etc. He has more of them than I do and he'd like to have more. LOL Sissy |

WOW, Edna! I am so happy that you've got the picture thing down-pat!
Not only are these pictures such a valuable resource...........but I enjoy just looking at them!
........and yes, it would be great if Randy G. were able to join us (even if only occasionally)!
He was such a great help to me when I first started. Here's a pic (I believe may be yours ) that he labeled for me. It helped me sort through the tons of Tiger-Eyes that I had. I realized that the TE's without white and with 3 or more colors were the harder-to-find types!

My ears burned off! LOL.
Thanks for the all the kind words. I like Vitro. When I first started collecting them, people were getting ripped with fakes of other company mibs. I thought I could collect Vitro, without having the same downfall. That way, I could collect, while I hung around the boards to learn a thing or two. Then I got a taste for them.
The marbles that Orbboy cropped are type 2 tiger eyes. (I got my first one from Peltboy for $60.00.) The rarest form of tiger eyes is the mib with differently colored poles, and differently colored ribbons. They are all type twos.
Edna, I bought a type two shooter, with differently colored ribbons at the Texas Marble show. It isn't where it is supposed to be, and I CAN"T FIND IT! It is the only one I have ever seen or heard about.
I got a whole slough of different tiger eyes a while back. I was going to go through them all, and document the color combinations, because I believe it to be greater than what was previously thought. However, that will takes several days to do. The sunshine calls me out, and we don't have rainy days.
Again, thank you for your kindness. _________________ randy go

Hi Randy, glad we got you to come here. We needed that type 2 name.
Rhonda, I think you know that you are showing us vitro opals. I have about 50 of those and everytime Randy visits and looks through my marbles he finds another and another. They are really pretty. I bought a shooter size, I think 7/8 at a marble show in Tulsa for Randy. At the time, he had not been to a marble show. When i find something I think he wants I get on the phone and call to ask him and what I've really learned is "just go ahead and get it for him because he wants it". Lets post some more tiger eyes here. Sissy |

Sissy - Yes I did know they were opals but thanks for making sure. I have a whole jar of them but those are just too cool to put in the jar lol. I am looking for a couple of 7/8" opals but to no avail
