I've had this one for a while now. it measures 7/8" and has a kind of teal greenish base with a single pontil. (some of the white also dips inside the marble). Would this one be a leighton?

I thought I saw something similar posted a while back!
Now I'm thinking its a German ground Pontil, like the one Lizzy posted in that thread.
(The one I have is greenish in color.)

| I believe it is Navarre, It seems to be a melted pontil, and the way the striping glass runs into the cutoff has a Navarre feel to it. I can't be sure about the pontil, but if it had more of a snipped off appearance, rather than melted, then I might suggest a German transitional from a period later than the early faceted pontil ones. ...Roger |

| Cool looping pattern. If I'm seeing it right, that is a loop (similar to navarre-type patterns), and not a nine" like you'd see on most other transitional types. 7/8's is a nice size too... But from what I can see the pontil in that pic looks a bit different & tidy-er than some other similar German "slag" marbles. The way it pinches in the second pic would lean me towards non-German. |

Not all of Leighton's marbles will have a melted pontil. In some, the pontil was snipped clean enough, there was no need to re-melt it. That color of green has also been found in Leighton's. Not sure if it was made at the Navarre plant, but it looks to have been prodced by one of his Ohio Plants.

I agree with Dan, Sandy; it looks like an Ohio-made one for sure. I'm told that over the years there were 13 different marble-producing companies in the Akron area alone. As to which one this might be? The loop sure looks like Navarre, and I've got one that has that same color green. Barberton green is a tad lighter I think - if you ever run into Brian Graham he might be able to pin it down for you...
