Some pretty ones I scrounged up. The first one is the only marble that stumped The Sheppards at the Canadian Marble Show. Been in a box ever since. The others are just neat. Any ideas on makers would be cool. I really like the fumed looking one. The one that looks extra bright has been brightened so the the red ribbons in the black can be seen. Inhand they really stand out. Hard to catch in pics for some reason? The black seems to gobble it up.

Man, those are some of the nicest "swirls" that I've seen in awhile! I really like the pinkish colored ones at the top, along with the handsome and sedate black, white and bronze one. That looks like an Alley-CAC. *meow* The last ones look like some Champions that I had.
I wish that we could pinpoint the makers on these types as easily as we do Pelts, Akros, etc. _________________ Lizzy

Dave~~ Love the action on that bottom one. Is all that going on inside the clear with space left over, or is the glass distorting that?

That last one looks a lot like these. They were identified over on LOM by Galen as European. They look similar to Ravenswood piggybacks described by Castle and Petterson but on those the darker color rides on top of (not next to) a lighter color.

If I were to call the bottom one anything. Euro would be it. It came from overseas to start. I know I have had some like txmarbles ones before. Also from overseas. I look to see if I still have any?
John it's all going on in there. Transparent brownie/purple mixed with white and a smokey white/blue all zipping that way then this way. Too hard to explain so I'll put it in the send to John section and you can see for yourself. Don't try to pick off the red speck though. I tried to pick some off of another marble and it ended up flaking. It's there for good. Some sort of asmade debris.
Alley is a good candidate for the black and brown one. Did they make marbles that "smeared" for lack of a better term. The white looks washed over the black in places? Is that an Alley trait?
The pink in the one with pink is a defined line of "true" transparent pink. A fluke I guess? Best I could get at the show was Champion maybe? The pink was the ???? Maybe I will get it buffed.
Out of the four I posted I like the second one the best. Hard to capture the richness of the red in a pic. Super pretty marble though. |
