I picked a few different colors of what are kind of the same looking type. I know they are not the same maker, but for a newbie, this is one of the hurdles for me....a lot of makers made kind of the same looking type of marble. I know it ain't as simple as that, but this is a nice bunch and someday I will be able to name each one of them.

Great shot! That's probably the best way to start learning how to ID and that is to group similarly constructed marbles together.

The way to even begin to tell the various patches apart is by the shape of the patch. They are usually fairly uniform in shape except for the Pelt Peerless Patches or the Pelt Acme Realers. These can get pretty wild and they were made in some color combos unique to them.

Here's a pretty good explanation for them on Alan's archived site.

http://web.archive.org/web/20041209170416/marblealan.com/peltier/

Now on to the ones that I didn't attempt to ID. Most of those were made by both Master & Akro. Sometimes it's impossible to distinguish between them but not always. Views of the "seams/cutlines" on the sides of the patches can help narrow it down.

But you may not want to fool with that at this point in the game. Smile I know that patches were the last thing that I was concerned with ID'ing. I wanted to get down pat the difference between Pelts & MKs (pretty much had Akro down pat due to the many hours spent with my brother's Akro collection and washing dug Akros. Wink)...........then on to the other maker's.

Feel free to post as many pics, etc. as you want. Sometimes we old-timers (I say that tongue-in-cheek) get a little rusty and we need to sharpen our skills............so help us out by posting lots of your collection!

We love it!! Laughing

Craig, I do believe you are correct. That is what I came up with. I will get some more photos. It is a great marble---that orange is such a bizarre color for what I think was a fairly early machine made?

I placed a larger light blue and brown striped opaque (5/8") with the black and electric yellow/orange striped opaque (9/16"). I think they are both CAC's? Let me know what you think of these two.

Good eye on the orange/black CA Striped Opaque, Craig. Smile I was seeing it as a deep yellow on my monitor..........but also missed the black 'drizzle' on it.

CA's aren't my forté but I'd say that the larger one is likely a Striped Opaque also. (Hopefully someone with more expertise there will confirm.)

VERY nice too!
