Well, I was hoping the subject title might get some response!

This is a strange marble and I have not seen anything that even resembles it. I cannot tell if it is an older machine made or a newer contemparary. The outside has the rind effect, like the glass had a hard time cooling, or it cooled too fast. In bottle making, this would be called whittle, which occurs when hot glass comes into contact with a cold metal mold. It really drives the price of an old bottle up. I don't know about marbles though. I doubt it. Anyone out there have a marble like this or know of any info? It is 19/32" and does not light up.

Without having it in hand - I can only hazard a guess at dug Akro. The orange peel surface (and apparent slightly out of round) would indicate to me that it probably cooled too quickly on the rollers. Possibly discarded as part of the run start-up.

The rind effect would definitely diminish its value in the marble sphere. Glossy wet mint is the desired effect! I hate to say it in the same breath but kind of an ugly marble and in all likelihood Akro. David
