Here are the requested pictures of the possible Vitro. I hope that this is the right marble. If not, let me know.

13/16", and it looks to have little bits of sub-surface particles. I don't know if it is adventurine--it could be. There is one small flake on this marble. Otherwise, it is a beaut.

Yep that's a Vitro. I'll leave it to a more qualified Vitro person to give it the proper name. I'm thinking an Elite. A bigger one to boot. Not quite sure if it meets all Buttermilk qualities.

looks like a buttermilk to me. when they're that big, they get kinda ugly (in my opinion).

i collect Vitros, and to me, the Buttermilks just aren't as spectacular as some other named veets (like Aquamarines), and the bigger Vitros get, the weirder they can look. yours is nice Buttermilk, i'd say.

don't mean to offend...it's just an opinion.

Paula, I was very much teasing! Very Happy I am so new at this marble collecting and identifying that I have not yet decided on what I like best. So far, it is all good!

I believe for full effect it should be and has been traditionally phrased as follows: Your mother wears combat boots! Dvaid

You are right! I knew that sentence looked awkward. I just could not figure it out. I am in no way biased toward any of our Armed Services. Army, Airforce, Navy, Marines--they all wear combat boots. I think even the Coast Guard wears combat topsiders. Smile

A buttermilk would have a red band on one side, a parallel red/blue band on the other side and a translucent buttermilk, yellow base, sometimes with white. But they vary considerably. The blue may darken towards indigo on larger examples like this one. The name was ID'd by a chap who worked at the Vitro Vienna plant but if it was guys at the plant who named it or kids in town...well that's unknown. Chuck Dennison and Roy Kays provided this info. to Chuch Brandstetter. David
