1. 5/8 it's opaque
I like the pattern on this one.
2.5/8 opaque
This one is almost entirely black with a little bit of brownish purple,no light shines trough.
3. 5/8 translucent
In hand the red is more a dark wine red,the red is translucent.
4.This one I posted a while back on another board
They all came in one group from the 30s
5.This one came with that group, looks
more like a swirl than a transitional?
It's 5/8 and the white is translucent

Wow, nice ones. The first 3 look like "crease-pontils". I don't know about the aventurine one - perhaps German by the pattern. The last one really looks like an American Agate. About the blue/white - sometimes the ones that are actually white on a transparent base will have a lot of white, with some color ending up on top of the white, making it look like an opaque. You should check it with a bright flashlight. ... Roger |

I've found them all here.
The first one is really opaque,no light shines through, the cut-off looks spidery,it's long and curved,Japanese...?
2 and 3 have long straight cut-offs.
Funny you said ;the last one looks like an American agate, that was my first thought aswell,it has a small short cut-of line.
thanks,winnie |

I have found that the foreign types that resemble American Agates usually have more true orange red than the brown-red of American Agates |

Ooooh, some of my faves!! They actually look "delicious".
When I saw the last one, I thought, "Hmmmmm, messed up Akro?" I couldn't see a cut-off line so I guess that's why that thought came to mind. I have found some with similar coloration in the 'dug' swirls. But I don't really think it's Akro at this point. It's a beauty, along with that wicked one with aventurine! _________________ Lizzy
