Now I'm even more confused. I found the other 2 marbles that were mentioned as probably being from the same cane. But I don't know what they sold for. They were estimated to go up from $4000-$5000, while the one that sold for apx. $14,000 (#46) was originally estimated to go from $10,000-$15,000.
Quote: | (#44) 2-11/32" End of day single pontil onionskin. Appears to be one of three marbles presented here (see lots 45 and 46) from the same cane. This marble appears to be one end of the cane. The marble has an off-white base color with chunks of the following colors: blue, green, orange, yellow and red. The color pattern is sometimes referred to as a clown pattern which is very desirable. An incredible opportunity to own three marbles from the same cane (both ends and the middle marble) A few minor dings and a couple of reflections. (9.1 Condition) |
Quote: | (#45) 1-15/16" End of day single pontil onionskin. Appears to be another of three marbles from the same cane. This marble appears to be the opposing end of the marble in 44 above. Marble has the same color loop around the surface. One as-made flat spot. Some light wear and few nicks and reflections. (8.9 Condition) |
EDIT: Found the sold prices on all of them in the catalog.
44-$4,400
45-$2,970
46-$14,300 |
