Check out all the negative feedback that 'foofighter4214' received right before he was booted off ebay. Seems to like using serious illness as a ploy. It's too bad that there are people like this around.

It looks like he was taking everyone's money for months until he was finally shut down. I wouldn't doubt he's still on ebay somewhere.

i wondered the same thing too, sandy, if it wasn't "ben" all along. i don't know...the posts sounded more "mature" somehow. maybe 20 year olds are different in australia, but i'd be surprised to learn it was someone that young.

he'd also have to have access to "john's" email account. (which wouldn't be difficult, i imagine...)

who knows.......the myspace accounts could be fake too!

You could be right. But I do remember the picture of him (above) that he had in some of his auctions. (he had it all pimped out in the auctions...photo-shopped to the max...LOL!)
Plus he seems to be a big online gamer and is probably used to taking on different roles.
(so I still think it was Ben. Smile

My guess is that it's probably both "father and son" acting in concert. The emails that I received from "foofighter4214" on ebay were signed by "Susie"........supposedly John's wife and Ben's mother. Someone else that I know was selling marbles to them (around the same time, 1 1/2 yrs. ago) told me that they received an email from the "son", Ben explaining that dad was in the hospital after suffering a heart attack and they would be sending the money soon. They never received it. *surprise*

I'm going to move this thread over to the ebay "Pros & Cons" section. I think that it's probably a good one to save over there, as the person in question started off as an ebay seller/buyer (foofighter4214) and will probably re-surface there with another ID. He'll probably even be selling some of the marbles that some of the truly kind folks here on the marble boards have sent him. When someone recognizes him/them (via their marbles)...........we can post it as an "update" to this thread! hehe

I think that this is probably a good, cautionary tale and a reminder that when someone new joins these boards and starts pulling on our heartstrings.............we need to *google* their avatar, email address, etc. before we send them marbles. Laughing

Boy or Boy! I wish I had enough time on my hands to be so creative to make up stupid stories. They ought to go just get a job and quit ripping people off, that work hard for there money. And what kind of sick person would make up a story about a family member being so sick????? Edna the only thing you did wrong was being a nice person! Shame on them!!! I love the Titanic pic! How about a pic with something in the hospital with sick dad, son and the hole dam zoo! I just know one of you can come up with something!
