Here's some which sold on the bay in Aug06 for about $50 inc pp. I was the underbidder and really liked the look of them but was a bit skint at the time so I kept the pic instead.

I can relate, I have a tough time pulling the trigger on higher priced marbles on Ebay. I like to have them inhand. LOL

Yes............I'd be regretting that one still.
Those dark based speckled looking ones (showing my ignorance of handmades here)...........are they a type of Indian/Guinea? (Ya'll don't laugh now.) I don't think that I've ever seen those types before. Pretty cool. _________________ Lizzy

Whenever I regret having been overbid by someone else, I rationalize the whole thing by convincing myself that they would have overbid me anyway. And I'm sure it's sometimes true. |

Once I won an eBay lot for a Solitaire set, and the vendor told me that 10 minutes after the auction, the underbidder emailed and offered $100 more than my winning bid. The vendor did not try to change the sale, but talk about instant regret! ...Roger |

Me neither, I was hopin' someone would say.
At the time I was put off that they were left twist, and pontils looked different to what I have. I thought they may be newish, or foreign (wherever that is!) _________________ Ziggyzora |

I've been collecting mostly handmades for 20 years. I have not seen handmades like that before. But I'm sure there are many things out there that I haven't encountered. I agree that the pontils are unusual, and they appear to have been ground flat. I have seen handmade pontil that were gound as these appear to be, on large plain green clearies, but never on ones like these. If I had seen the auction I would probably have coughed up $100 or more just to get a close look at them. Do you recall what size they were? ...Roger |

I'm fairly sure the auction didn't mention size. As I recall it was quite vague and also didn't mention if they were old or handmade. _________________ Ziggyzora |
