Steve (SplattmanSS) and I were exchanging some emails and he sent me these pics and asked me to post them.
I have an idea that there are many unsolved marble mysteries that we've just scratched the surface of. In the last few years, I've seen many Kokomo & Alley marbles w/provenance that have surprised me.
Here's a snippet of what Steve wrote, along with his pics.
Quote: | At the Kokomo show Chuck brandstetter (Sp) was showing another collector his most impressive collection of verified Kokomo marbles and low-N-behold...........the blue patch was a perfect match to mine???? I got a Peltier opinion on a few, even a JABO from someone, but the Koko comparison really snuck up on me....I don't have a picture of Chuck's, but here is the pic of my group.. |
For lack of any other ideas..............I would've thought Alley for the blue ones..........wouldn't have any idea on the yellow. _________________ Lizzy

Look like shooters in one of Kokokens original boxes. I agree and would say are kokomos. Nice group.

I can't say with 100% certainty Mark...The construction, glass type, and pattern is so similar on all the marbles I would have to strongly believe they are. I'm hoping to get over to Ken's (Kokoken) and ask if I may take a few pics of his collection, especially the blue patches. I will also take these for him to look over for an opinion.....

In my Kokomo collection are some mibs that are different from the distinctive ones with the blue-grey base. They were given to me by a very sharp lady who can remember the nite in 1942 when plant workers gave her two year old son a bucketfull. It is these that are pictured in my Kokomo box. Yes, some of them are shooter size but not one inch.
None of them are like the mibs pictured above. They aren't that pretty. |
